A Kalabanda is a mythical creature that is said to haunt schools in Uganda.Tendo, a pupil shows up to class one day without homework -claiming that a "Kalabanda" ate it.Who'd believe such a lame excuse? No-one! How will Tendo prove his story? Does this mythical creature really exist? Director Biography - Raymond Malinga 216d62e22c headshot Raymond Malinga achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Animation and Visual Effects from Multimedia University Cyberjaya Malaysia. His graduation short film ‘White Collar Time (2014) earned him several accolades in several International student film award competitions He has as well worked on two animated TV shows in Malaysia; Didi & friends and Ejen Ali under Digital Durian Studio and Wau Animation Studio respectively. The experience varied as an Animator, Screenwriter and Concept Developer. In 2014 he decided to quit his job and return to start his journey towards making an impact on the local and continental animation industry in Africa. He has years of experience working in the local professional animation field as the Executive Director of the Creatures Animation Studio, which has produced a variety of commercial work in Uganda for local and international clients such as MIATv, Optimetriks, Gravity and Africa Premier Health. The title was inspired by the excuse “a dog ate my homework” used by children to explain their failure to hand in homework. The phrase has its roots in popular western culture and has overtime lent itself to in the contemporary world. It is my intention that this project will lay a solid foundation for digital storytelling from my home country Uganda and inspire a generation of African Artists to look beyond the conventional and seek out for unique storytelling opportunities around them.
