„We don’t call it school, rather we call it learning community“ (Hana, 9 years) The documentary portraits a project in Colombia, where the concept of a school is thought in a different way. One is invited into the world of some adolescents and accompanies them into their daily lives within the learning community Kalapa. Through the voices of the kids the film conveys honest and constructive critics on the global education policy and provides an immediate insight into the development of humans, that are learning out of their own thirst for knowledge. Director Biography - Sophie Stallegger Sophie Stallegger is a video maker and multimedia producer. She has her Bachelors in Informationsdesign from FH JOANNEUM and is currently writing her thesis for Master in Zeitbasierte Medien in Kunstuniversität Linz. Her documentary films include Seeds of Change (2014, Austria/Bolivia) and Kalapa (2018, Austria/Colombia), and were shown in various international films festival like Crossing Europe Linz, Ecozine Film Festival Zaragoza, Which Human Rights Istanbul. Along with working at various film festivals like This Human World and Viennale, she also founded and produced Kino Cuntra and Kinophilia film festivals.
