Department of Education: Four Tucson area schools drop to 'F' rating - KVOA Tucson News

TUCSON - Four schools in the Tucson area have dropped from a D to an F-rating in the 2018-2019 Arizona School Report Cards, according to the Arizona Department of Education.
Each year, the Department of Education publishes an A-F rating for every school in Arizona in order to inform the community about how its local schools are performing throughout the state. The department determines the rating based on year-to-year statistics including general academic growth, proficiency assessment scores in English language arts, math and science, graduation rate, drop out rate and several other analytics that aim to measure a student's success in the next education level.
For the 2018-2019 school year, Tucson Unified School District had three of its schools drop from a D to an F rating - Booth-Fickett Math/Science Magnet School, Catalina High School and Magee Middle School. This brought the district's total of F rated schools to five. Anna Lawrence Intermediate School and Safford K-8 School also received an F grade on the recently released report card.
The schools received these ratings after TUSD school board voted on A-F appeals on Dec. 13.
Marana Unified School District's Tortolita Middle School also dropped from a D to an F rating this year. This was the only F-rated school in MUSD in the 2018-2019 school year.
Other districts that received an F-rated school for the 2018-2019 school year include Baboquivari Unified School District No. 40, Ed Ahead, Lifelong Learning Research Institute, Inc. and TIA West.
