College welcomes trio of new faculty members | Rome Daily Sentinel - Rome Sentinel

CAZENOVIA — Three new faculty members have joined the academic staff at Cazenovia College to teach in the school’s Social and Behavioral Sciences academic division.

Benjamin Baughman, Ph. D., is assistant professor of Criminal Justice and Homeland Security Studies and director of that academic program. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from East Carolina University, a master’s degree in Investigative Psychology from the University of Liverpool, England; and a doctorate in Philosophy concentrating in Investigative Psychology from the University of Huddersfield School of Health and Humanities in the United Kingdom. Dr. Baughman retired from a 15-year law enforcement career with the Raleigh, North Carolina police department as a sergeant, detective, crime analyst, and hostage negotiator. He also was an instructor with the North Carolina Justice Academy. At Cazenovia, he currently teaches Introduction toCriminal Justice, Corrections and Alternatives, and capstone coursework.

Rodlyn Hines, Ph. D. joins Cazenovia College as assistant professor, Human Services. She is teaching the courses Counseling Families in Crises; Children, Youth and Family Services; Program Planning and Evaluation; Childhood Disorders; and Counseling Theories. Dr. Hines received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the School of Management at Wright State University; a Master of Science degree in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration from Lasell College; and a doctorate in Human Development and Family Science from Syracuse University. She previously was an adjunct faculty member at Syracuse University and Utica College and continues serving as an adjunct professor at Northcentral University’s Graduate School of Psychology.

David Rufo, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Inclusive Education and co-director of the college’s Inclusive Education program. He previously was a clinical assistant professor in the Graduate School of Education at Fordham University, an instructor in Art Education at Syracuse University, and an elementary education teacher at Tully Elementary School and Manlius Pebble Hill School. Dr. Rufo earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in Studio Arts from Syracuse University; a master’s degree with a concentration n K-6 Mathematics at State University of New York College at Cortland; a teaching certificate from LeMoyne College in K-6 Elementary Education; and a doctorate from Syracuse University in Teaching and Curriculum/Teaching and Leadership. This semester, he is teaching The Learning of Mathematics, Multicultural Literacy and Inclusive PreK/K and Intermediate Curriculum and Methods. In addition to his academic career, he also works as a visual artist and an educational consultant.
